The Story of Warrior Paints

In August 1987 brothers, Aggie, Anton and Chris Argyrou formed Warrior Paints & Coatings (Proprietary) Limited. Warrior Paints commenced trading at the company’s first plant in Rosslyn, North of Pretoria, South Africa. In 1989 Artemi Petrou joined the company as a shareholder.
1991 was special in Warrior Paint’s history, as its company owned pilot retail paint store was opened in Arcadia, Pretoria. This flagship store was later relocated to Gezina, Pretoria. Warrior Paints Gezina proved to be an immediate success and as a result Warrior Paints decided to expand the retail division by opening more stores.

In 2000, Warrior Paints introduced its Franchising concept into the company’s strategy. A research programme, together with a feasibility study was embarked on, which determined that the Warrior Paints Franchise concept was the route to follow.

Company stores as well as Warrior Paints distributor stores were evaluated for strengths and weaknesses. Local opposition stores and international trends were considered and Warrior Franchise was ready to be launched. Read more on how to get a Warrior Paints franchise.

After intensive research, Warrior Paints introduced its own range of wood care products and as a result the WoodTreat brand was created.

First Choice Paints Brand was launched in 2007 as an alternative range to the Warrior Paints Brand.

At the beginning of 2008, Warrior Paints established its Premium Brands. Special, exclusive paint buckets were designed for these premium quality products.
