How to keep your home’s new coat of paint looking fresh and clean

Luxury house paint can give your home a complete facelift. What people often fail to realise, however, is that you need to put in a bit of time and effort to keep your new coat of paint looking like new. Here are a few tips to make sure that the effect of your paint job stays fresh for as long as possible:

Dust your walls often

Things like dust, dirt and cobwebs can quickly ruin the look and feel of a room that has been freshly painted. Use a duster to dust the walls and ceiling every couple of weeks. This doesn’t have to be an all-day task that requires you to remove paintings and pictures, simply dust where you can to keep your rooms looking fresh.

Which walls to wash

Both bathroom and kitchen walls should be washed every few months. The residues of cleaning materials, steamy baths and cooking can infiltrate your paint and lead to a grimy build-up. Simply mix soap with water and use a soft sponge to wash and rinse these areas.

Keep an eye on specific areas

You don’t have to wash an entire wall surface if you notice that small sections need a bit of cleaning. Areas where a person’s head rests against a wall (say, from sitting on a couch that is pressed up against a wall) and areas around light switches tend to get dirty more quickly than other areas. Use a sponge and soapy water to keep these areas clean.
